Miss Rodeo Arkansas is a young lady between the ages of 19 and 25 who strives to promote the state of Arkansas and the sport of professional rodeo, and in so doing, promote the great western way of life. Miss Rodeo Arkansas will be an outgoing and exceptional horsewoman with a vast knowledge of the sport of rodeo, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the equine industry, current events and the state of Arkansas. She is a young lady who enjoys traveling and has a sincere interest in promoting her state and the sport of rodeo. Contestant Eligibility Each contestant in the Miss Rodeo Arkansas Pageant, on the date of competition and upon final selection of Miss Rodeo Arkansas, shall: a) have obtained the age of 19 years by January 1, 2009 and shall not have obtained the age of 25 years by December 31, 2009, the same to be evidenced by her birth certificate to be presented before competition, b) not be married, nor ever married, nor ever bore a child c) be a legal resident of the state of Arkansas d) not be a state title holder of any other pageant in the year of competition e) have executed all consents and/or waivers of liability presented as conditions precedents to competition The Miss Rodeo Arkansas contestants will be judged in photogenics, appearance, modeling, personality, speech, interview and horsemanship. A western style dress is appropriate for the modeling portion of the competition. Each contestant will be asked an impromptu question, of the judges choosing, while on stage. Each contestant will also give a two minute speech about the state of Arkansas. During the horsemanship portion, the contestants will be judged on two patterns: a preset pattern and a freestyle pattern. The freestyle pattern is a 1 minute and 30 second pattern made up by the contestant to showcase her riding skills and her horse to the best of her ability. The preset pattern will be made available to the contestants after her application is received. Contestants must wear Wrangler jeans for horsemanship along with a fitted shirt. No chaps, vests, or jackets are allowed. The personality and appearance portions of the competition are judged throughout each phase of the pageant. During the interview phase, Miss Rodeo Arkansas contestants should be prepared to answer questions pertaining to the sport of rodeo, current events, the state of Arkansas, the Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association, the equine industry and information from her entry form. Contestants may wear a western outfit of their choice. Each contestant needs to submit one 8x10 color photograph and two 5x7 black and white photographs along with their entry form. The 8x10 will be used for judging the photogenic competition. The 5x7 photographs will be used for advertisement purposes. These photographs should be of the contestant in western attire. These photos will become the property of Miss Rodeo Arkansas, Inc. The winner of the Miss Rodeo Arkansas 2009 competition will be considered a "lady-in-waiting" until Dilynn Dodd's reign is over on January 1, 2009. The winner will then assume the role of Miss Rodeo Arkansas 2009 and have the privilege of traveling across her state and country promoting the sport of rodeo. She will also have the opportunity to compete in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant held at the end of November 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
